BRUCE Forsyth’s widow made her first public appearance since his death last August to present Ant and Dec with an award named in the late TV icon’s honour.
Wilnelia Merced, 60, arrived on stage after watching a special montage of Brucie’s greatest moments.
She said: “I wish I wouldn’t have to be standing here this evening in front of all of you but I am so proud and honoured that this special award is named after my darling Bruce.
“I know he would have loved it because showbusiness was his life and I also know if he was here this evening he would have been saying to all of you, it’s nice to see you, to see you nice.”
After being presented with the newly-renamed gong, Dec said: “We all miss him terribly so we are thrilled and proud and honoured to be picking up the Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award.”
