As women continue to come forward as part of the #MeToo movement, Cardi B maintains one group has been largely ignored.
“A lot of video vixens have spoke about this and nobody gives a f–k,” the “Bodak Yellow” rapper said in the April issue of Cosmopolitan. “When I was trying to be a vixen, people were like, ‘You want to be on the cover of this magazine?’ Then they pull their d–ks out. I bet if one of these women stands up and talks about it, people are going to say, ‘So what? You’re a ho. It don’t matter.’”
Although many in Hollywood have rallied in support of Time’s Up and #MeToo, Cardi B believes some men who have followed suit may have ulterior motives.
“These producers and directors, they’re not woke, they’re scared,” the 25-year-old said.
While the Bronx native isn’t one to mince words, she also spoke out about her past as an exotic dancer.
“People ask, ‘Why did you strip?’ I don’t really want to say, ‘Oh, because I was in a relationship with a guy and I needed money to leave,’” Cardi B shared.
The former “Love & Hip Hop” personality also stated strippers shouldn’t be looked down upon.
“People say, ‘Why do you always got to say that you used to be a stripper? We get it.’ Because y’all don’t respect me because of it, and y’all going to respect these strippers from now on,” she said.
