The Chuckle Brothers are just too darn nice to appear on Celebrity Big Brother – according to the lads themselves.
The comedy duo consist of real-life brothers Barry and Paul Elliott, aged 73 and 70 respectively.
The chaps have been working in the entertainment world for over 50 years having first appeared on screens on Opportunity Knocks – a talent show that they ultimately won.
Having recently enjoyed a little bit of TV success by being added to the cast of long-running ITV sitcom, Benidorm, the boys revealed they had considered appearing on reality scrap heap show Celebrity Big Brother to revive their careers – but, tragically, failed to make the cut.
"I’d probably do Celebrity Big Brother. We were asked and they were talking to us about it but nothing came of it,” Barry revealed to Metro.
"I think they thought we weren’t nasty enough,” he continued – adding that he reckons they would only agree to appear on the show on the one condition that there would be “whisky in there and not just beer and wine”.
Meanwhile, Brother Paul has been left contemplating future career choices – and thinks he and Barry’s OAP status would rule them out of appearing on I’m A Celeb.
"I would have done I’m A Celebrity a few years ago, but I think I’m getting a bit past it now. I’m not sure I could do all those things that they want you to do,” the ageing star said.
Benidorm fans were thrilled to see Barry and Paul join the cast of Benidrom for its recent 10th series.
The brothers played a magician and his assistant – with Barry dressing up in drag for his role and winning comparisons to Mary Berry and Val from Emmerdale for his efforts.
