Combustibly dressed Knicks legend Walt “Clyde” Frazier says he would have dunked on the current crop of NBA fashion plates in the style stakes, telling Page Six, “You are a millionaire so you should look like one.”
Frazier, whose tailoring tends toward animal prints and retina-rattling colors, told us the younger players’ hip-hop-inspired style lets the league down.
“I am my own stylist,” the two-time NBA champ told us at the BTIG Charity Day. “Money cannot give you style. I met a lot of corny people with money and no style. A lot of them are in the NBA.”
He added of today’s hoops stars, “These guys idolize the rappers and that is why they dress like the rappers.”
The MSG Network color commentator, who was one of the celeb guests at financial services firm BTIG’s annual drive where stars act as traders and all the profits are donated to charity, added, “We staying at the Four Seasons, the Ritz Carlton and they dress like you staying in the Holiday Inn.”
