Emmerdale’s Emma Barton – played by Gillian Kearney – was recently killed off on the hit ITV soap after being pushed off a bridge by an unknown suspect.
Emma’s storyline came to a dramatic end last week as the unhinged nurse’s karma finally caught up with her, following months of horrific behaviour – including the accidental murder of her son Finn.
Gillian’s main storyline as Emma found the character becoming obsessed with her husband, James Barton, following news of his affair with Moria Barton – his sister in law.
After the revelation, Emma kept her husband locked away until the storyline reached it’s peak in which Emma eventually pushes her prisoner off a bridge, killing him and causing injuries on the motorway for the rest of the town.

And while Emmerdale fans play a game of ‘who did it?’ with the death of Emma, it could be a collection of people following her unforgivable antics in the Dales.
But what is actress Gillian up to now her role as Emma is over?
Appearing recently on This Morning, Emma spoke out about her character and leaving Emmerdale.
She explained: “I feel very lucky that I’ve managed to bow out in such style.”

“We had a great time last year and then we had a similar fiasco this year. The crew has been amazing to work with – everybody works so hard at Emmerdale and it’s been great to be part of a team.”
While it is not clear yet what Gillian is planning on doing with her career next, the star already has a successful career in both television and film.
As far as TV goes, Gillian has been made famous for her roles in Casualty as Mandy, Heartbeat as Susan Watkins, Shameless as Sue and Silent Witness as DI Bridges.
