DEBBIE Dingle grows closer to discovering the truth about double-crossing boyfriend Tom Waterhouse in an upcoming episode of Emmerdale.
The character has no idea her lover is connected to the huge development project to demolish the Dingle’s property to make way for a road leading to a fancy golf course.
While viewers know Tom is up to no good, Debbie remains in the dark, but starts to grow suspicious in the run up to Christmas.
Actress Charley Webb, who plays Debbie, told Inside Soap: “Tom’s betrayal is enormous – it will break Debbie’s heart, every part of it.
“The deceit is too much, I don’t think that she could ever forgive him.”
Debbie starts to realise all is not as it seems with her boyfriend after Sam and Lydia are arrested as they try to thwart the developers plans and keep their home.
The pair suggest telling them that Wishing Well Cottage sits on a badgers set, but as they head off to find some evidence to aid their fake plan, the cops arrive.
Charley explained: “There is something about Tom that doesn’t stack up, and Debbie hasn’t been able to put her finger on it.
“But then something niggles at her after what happens to Sam and Lydia, as Tom was the only person outside of the Dingle family who knew what they were doing.”
However, when Debbie confronts Tom, he manages to brush it off, and Debbie has to get on with her first day working in his office.
A distracted Debbie is soon asked to provide her witness signature on some important paperwork, but doesn’t fully take in what she is signing.
Charley added: “Debbie neglects to check what she is actually signing.
“She’s a bit distracted at the time and doesn’t think it’s anything dodgy.”
Fans will have to wait and see whether Debbie eventually uncovers the truth, and whether there is a twist in the tale as to who Tom really is.
Charley said: “There have been rumours about Tom’s true identity, and I’ve enjoyed seeing all those theories.
“As for the future, there is lots of drama still to come. I’d love for Debbie to wreak her revenge!”
