“Any fans that it was going to alienate was going to find out my life and who I am at a certain point, so if that’s going to alienate them, that’s going to alienate them anyway,” he told “Page Six TV’s” Bevy Smith. “If that means that’s going to chop things down a little bit, cool. But it’s going to grow again. It’s all good because the good will always rise.”
Smith prodded Smollett on his “stunning man,” but the coy star sipped a glass of water and responded, “I’m in a relationship and I’m happy … very happy.”
Smollett was more forthcoming dishing about his career. “I want to do a lot of everything. I always say, ‘I want to be the black male Barbra Streisand.’ I want to do Broadway more than anything. It takes up too much time. I remember I was asked to join the show and I wanted to so bad, but the rehearsals,” he said.
“’Chicago’?” Smith asked.
“I’ll tell you off-air Bevy. Dang, like we’re homies. You be sitting there saying everything on-air like we’re not friends, like we don’t talk all the time,” he quipped.
