Katie Price 'in talks for Changing Rooms-style show' for mucky mansion

Katie Price ‘is in talks for a Changing Rooms-inspired show where she’d offer viewers clever DIY tips’ while renovating her £2m ‘mucky mansion’

Katie Price is reportedly in talks with a production company to have her own Changing Rooms-inspired show while she works on her £2m ‘mucky mansion’.

The star, 42, revealed she was considering a move back to the spacious but rundown Sussex abode in a YouTube video posted at the start of April.

It is now thought that the mother-of-five hopes to document the home makeover as part of a TV show where she’ll also offer viewers ‘clever hints and tips’ about DIY.

New project? Katie Price is reportedly in talks with a production company to have her own Changing Rooms-inspired show while she works on her £2m ‘mucky mansion’

A source told The Sun: ‘Katie’s working with a production company and it’s in development – and because the house is such a wreck, it would be a real transformation.

‘She’d be doing it all, showing fans how they can transform their home for not much money, but with Katie’s clever hints and tips.

‘Everyone knows she’s hilarious on camera, so everyone’s sure a TV channel would jump at the chance to stump up the cash and get behind the project.’

The star’s representative confirmed to the publication that there are some ‘ideas knocking about’. MailOnline has contacted Katie’s representative for a comment.

Lots of work: It is thought that the star hopes to document the makeover as part of a TV show where she’ll also offer viewers ‘clever hints and tips’ about DIY (the mansion’s kitchen pictured)

It was confirmed in December that interior design show Changing Rooms would be making a return to screens after a 16-year break, switching over to Channel 4.

However in April 2021, it was reported by The Sun that Davina McCall has stepped down from her presenting gig on the reboot. The Masked Singer judge, 53, was expected to host the Channel 4 show with Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen.

But after the coronavirus pandemic wreaked havoc with her schedule and pushed back production dates twice, she can longer reportedly commit to the new series.

It is not known which production company or channel Katie might be speaking with about her own potential TV makeover show.

Meanwhile, fans recently got a fresh peak inside the ‘mucky mansion’ when Katie and her beau Carl, 32, visited it for a YouTube video.

New life: The mother-of-five revealed she was considering a move back to the spacious but rundown Sussex abode with her beau Carl in a YouTube video posted at the start of April

While on a tour of the house, the former glamour model had to warn her partner to be ‘careful’ as the bathroom floor might ‘cave through’.

Carl gingerly put his foot down on one of the bathroom floors while inspecting the house and working out what could be done decoration wise to improve it.

Being wary not to put too much weight on the ground, Carl laughed as he turned to the camera and said: ‘I’m a bit worried it’s gonna cave through’:

Katie, who bought the sprawling country house back in 2014, could then be heard shouting from off camera: ‘It might! Be careful.’

As the duo walked around the spacious family home, Carl suggested ideas of what they could do to make it liveable again saying it looks ‘better every time you walk in here’ as the couple have been clearing out Katie’s belongings.

Looking around: During a recent visit, the former glamour model and Carl chatted about how they could improve the place despite her children ‘hating the house’

Oh dear: Katie also had to warn her beau to be ‘careful’ as the bathroom floor could cave in

Unconvinced: Carl suggested things they could do to improve the house, such as paint it all white and carpet the floors, however Katie wasn’t sure about moving back in

The hunk suggested that Katie could ‘carpet and paint it’ so it was a bit easier to sell or even paint the entire house white to make a blank canvas for them.

Carl said: ‘Why don’t you paint the whole house white so it’s a blank canvas? You’ll probably feel different about it then’.

Seemingly surprised at his suggestion that they could consider moving back into the home together, Katie said she wasn’t sure the idea would float with her children.

Katie, who admitted all the houses they’ve been viewing are similar to the large ‘mucky mansion’, told Carl: ‘You reckon start this again? The kids hate his house.’

Carl then told his love: ‘And I don’t want people thinking ‘oh look at him wanting to move into her house’.’

And Katie replied: ‘You think it’s a waste don’t you.’

Katie said: ‘For me to move in the house, nothing at all could be the same. Because of my mental health, it just reminds me of situations and I don’t like it’ (pictured on the tour)

Needs lots of work: Another bathroom in the mansion was covered in debris from a broken ceiling

However she later admitted that it could be a potential idea, so long as everything changed in the decoration and layout of the huge home.

Katie said: ‘For me to move in the house, nothing at all could be the same. Because of my mental health, it just reminds me of situations and I don’t like it.’

And it seems the emptier the ‘mucky mansion’ gets, the more Katie could come round to the idea of moving back as on her latest trip she declared: ‘I haven’t moaned once and I f*****g hate this house.’

The mum-of-five also pleaded with her fans for ideas about how to fix the mansion during the video, even asking if anyone would like to decorate a room for her.

She explained that she’d be happy for anyone to take on a room so each space in the house looked different and would like to get ideas from builders.

Katie moved out of the £2m Sussex property last year while it undergoes renovations and has been staying at a rented home in Surrey with her boyfriend.

Slowly getting there: Another clip from the YouTube video showed Katie sorting through piles of clothes and belongings

So much stuff: Bags, boxes and artwork were piled on the floor

The home is just 10 minutes from her ex-husband Peter Andre, 47, whom she shares children Junior, 15, and Princess, 13, with.

Carl has also put his Essex home on the market for £445,000, where the couple have been living in since September.

Katie recently responded to rumours she was expecting her sixth child as she appeared on Steph’s Packed Lunch.

The star sent tongues wagging when she cradled her stomach last week in an Instagram photo and thanked Carl for ‘being a part of me’.

And while Katie kept coy over if she was pregnant, the reality star did tell host Steph McGovern that pictures ‘can be deceiving’.

It comes after Katie returned to her mansion to check the site’s progress and found that it had been broken into with thieves stealing old photographs and hard drives.

In a YouTube video, Katie explained: ‘This house was burgled. So much s*** has gone. Even hard drives have gone. Oh well, if anyone wants to go through my old photos go for it. If it makes you feel good.’

Terrible: Back in June 2020, thieves flooded her bathroom, causing a ceiling to collapse into the kitchen

Filming herself leaving the property, she added: ‘It feels good not to be in that s***hole, horrible house.’

This was the third time the ‘mucky mansion’ has been burgled, following reports of two break-ins within a matter of weeks last summer.

Katie has vowed to renovate and sell the house, with doctors demanding she doesn’t return for the sake of her mental health.

Over the past year, the TV star’s abode stood decrepit and unkempt with abandoned facilities amid her recent financial woes.

Renovations kicked off in June 2019, but the influencer was left devastated when the ‘mucky mansion’ was broken into and destroyed by intruders a year later.

In June 2020, thieves broke in to steal her I’m A Celebrity rucksack and leant the shower head over the ceiling which caused the bathroom to flood and the ceiling to collapse.

Loved-up: Katie and Carl have been looking for a house, with him recently putting his Essex home on the market for £445,000

Just weeks later, she suffered a fresh blow as thieves broke in again, and she vowed to up security after a neighbour witnessed three men on her private property.

Katie told The Sun at the time: ‘I’ve already contacted police and told them all this.

‘I’ve got someone going to my house to put a padlock on the bottom of the field gate, it looks like people are wrecking my property to go in again.’

According to the publication, a neighbour saw three men emerge from a black BMW.

The neighbour reported shouting at one of them to get off private property, only for them to reply they were looking for a toilet.

A source told MailOnline: ‘Katie, as a result of the recent invasion on her property, is ramping up security to maintain a 24 hour surveillance on her house.

‘It was quite clear that these people were not lost or indeed ramblers and were there with intent to raid Katie’s property. The neighbours are also close friends of Katie’s and raised the alarm.’
