Mel C insists Spice Girls 'would be fools' not to tour again

Mel C hints at another Spice Girls reunion as she insists iconic girl group ‘would be fools’ not to tour again

Fans went wild for the Spice Girls reunion in 2019 as the iconic girlband made a comeback with their sell-out stadium tour across the UK.

And now Mel C has hinted that another reunion could be on the cards, as she believes the much-loved ’90s group ‘would be fools’ not to head back out on the road.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain on Friday, the singer, 47, insisted she is ‘pushing’ for the Spice Girls to tour once more and teased it’s something the band have been talking about.

Fan favourite: The singer teased that fans could see the girls back on stage following the success of 2019’s Spice World tour

Quizzed by Kate Garraway over whether fans will get to see the Spice Girls – made up of Mel, Emma Bunton, Geri Horner, Victoria Beckham and Mel B – storm the stage again, Mel revealed: ‘That’s the dream.’

She reflected on the success of the girls’ Spice World tour two years ago, adding: ‘The last shows went so well, it was mind blowing.’

Mel aka Sporty Spice claimed: ‘We would be fools to no want to do it again and play the UK and overseas.

‘I’m always pushing and talking to do it. It’s hard with the pandemic, but it is something we’d like to do.’

Mel revealed on the ITV breakfast show that it’s been 25 years since the Spice Girls’ debut hit Wannabe topped the charts.

To mark the impressive milestone, the Spice Girls have a limited edition EP titled Wannabe 25 that will be coming out next month in July.

Fans can stream the special collection as part of the Spice Girls’ #IAmASpiceGirl campaign.

‘We have this campaign to be celebrating the fans,’ Mel explained.

‘We wouldn’t be here without them and there’s still so much love still out there for us.’

The EP is the first time the Spice Girls have released music since 2007 and it features an unreleased song titled Feed Your Love – a slow ballad that features Victoria’s vocals.

Fans will be able to stream Wannabe25 from 9th July and get their hands on it physically on vinyl and cassette on 23rd July via UMC / EMI.

As well as Feed Your Love, the new EP will include the original demo recording of Wannabe, the song’s radio edit, an in-demand remix by Junior Vasquez (originally a bonus track on the 1996 ‘2 Become 1’ CD Single).

Grateful: The girlband star said the EP is to celebrate the fans who still have ‘a lot of love’ for the Spice Girls over two decades later

Mel isn’t the only Spice Girl who has hinted at another reunion in recent months, as Mel B claimed the girls will get back together and perform as soon as the rules in place because of coronavirus allow it.

‘People need a bit of entertainment. Music brings people together. I would love it – as soon as the rules allow it, then yeah,’ she said, reports The Mirror.  ‘Until the virus gets under control I don’t think anyone can securely say “I’m definitely going on tour.”‘

She added: ‘When it comes to putting on a show or concert, I don’t know how people are going to do it without the proper guidelines and information, because things change on a weekly basis.

On the cards: Mel B has also hinted at plans for another Spice Girls tour when Covid restrictions allow for gigs to go ahead once more

Back on board? She has reportedly been coaxing Victoria Beckham to join the Spice Girls on stage, after the designer decided not to take part in the 2019 stadium tour

‘Us lot are definitely up for it – it’s just a case of timings and safety. I’m always itching to get back on to the stage.’

Victoria decided to sit out of the 2019 reunion tour and while she threw her support behind her former bandmates as they hit the road, she stood by her decision not to join them.

For Victoria, her priority was her family and her eponymous fashion label.

She told Vogue Germany at the time: ‘It took me a lot of courage not to go on tour with the Spice Girls again, but to be the one who says, “You know, I’m not doing it because things feel different now than they used to,” I’d rather concentrate on my family and my company.’

However, it’s thought Mel B has been coaxing Victoria to take part in plans for another comeback, with reports back in January claiming the designer is ‘coming round’ to the idea.
