MEL Owen has made her big comeback to EastEnders.
But just who is she? And when did she return? Here is what we know…
Mel first appeared on Albert Square in 1998 as Melanie Healy.
She was involved in high-profile storylines, such as a wedding to Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) to mark the Millennium Eve celebrations on New Year's Eve 1999, and later a problematic marriage to Steve Owen (Martin Kemp).
Mel was also kidnapped by her former fling, Dan Sullivan (Craig Fairbrass).
She left the Square in 2002.
The Sun exclusively revealed that Mel would make a shock return to EastEnders in October 2017.
On January 9, 2018 Mel Owen made her return to EastEnders and didn't seem happy.
The character paid a visit to the Arches to visit Ben Mitchell after being missing on screen for fifteen years.
Stepping into the Arches, Ben tried to turn her away as business was busy – not realising who she was or her connection to their family.
Mel looked like she meant business as simply said: "Nice to be back.", before the credits rolled.
Mel is played by Tamzin Outhwaite.
The 47-year-old started her acting career at the famous Sylvia Young Theatre School.
After having bit parts in Men Behaving Badly and The Bill, Tamzin shot to fame in the 90s when she landed the role of Mel in EastEnders, who she played from 1998 until 2002.
After leaving EastEnders she starred in Red Cap, Hotel Babylon, New Tricks, Silent Witness, Agatha Christie's Marple and The Fixer.
