The former American football player, nicknamed The Juice, was jailed after being convicted for kidnapping and armed robbery in a Las Vegas hotel, back in 2007.
He has so far served nine years of his 33-year prison sentence in a Nevada jail.
The 70 year old will be freed on October 1.

He thanked commissioners and bowed his head as he was approved for release.
“I’ve done my time,” he said. “I’ve done it as well and as respectfully as anybody can. I think if you talk to the wardens they’ll tell you.
“I’ve not complained for nine years. All I’ve done is try to be helpful… and that’s the life I’ve tried to live because I want to get back to my kids and family.”

He also told the board he had “spent a conflict-free life”.
OJ is currently in Lovelock Correctional Facility, a medium-security prison in Nevada.
He and an associate were convicted of kidnapping, armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon in Vegas, in an attempt to take some of the athlete’s memorabilia.

At his sentencing in 2008, he said he went to the room at the Palace Station hotel to reclaim heirlooms and personal items taking from him.
He claimed he did not know his associates were armed.
At a parole meeting in 2013, Simpson spoke out about what happened – and said he regrets the events that occurred in 2007.

“I just wish I had never gone to that room,” he said.
“I wish I had just said ‘keep it’ and not worry about it. All I can do about it since I’ve been here is be as respectful and as straightforward as I could be.”
OJ is well-known for being acquitted in 1955 following the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown, and her friend Ron Goldman.
