Paul O’Grady performed an exorcism on best pal Cilla Black’s ghost

Paul O’Grady has made the peculiar admission that he’s been exorcising the ghost of his best pal Cilla Black.

The TV star, who will be seen on ITV tonight (Monday) presenting The NHS Heroes Awards at 8.30pm, and Blind Date host Cilla were the best of pals for many years.

Bonded by their home town of Liverpool, the pair had a long and close friendship.

And Paul reckons that he’s been able to feel the presence of Cilla’s ghost ever since her sad death in 2015.

The For The Love Of Dogs host told the Daily Star : "I’ve exorcising ghosts. I’ve actually been exorcising our Cilla. I was very conscious so I’m glad I’ve done it.

"I actually loved doing the exorcising ghosts thing. It was a thrill."

Paul, 62, and Cilla were born not far from each other, in Birkenhead and Liverpool, respectively, and he gave a moving eulogy at her funeral.

And he said that he’s continued to feel her presence around him ever since, although he prefers to remember her as she was rather than visit her grave.

Paul might be on TV regularly, but he recently admitted that he’s had to cut down on watching it for the sake of his health.

"I used to have the telly on all the time and sit and watch all the soaps and shows, but not now," he said.

"Those days are over. My health is better than ever for it too.

"My doctor even said that I am in much more perfect health, it’s given me a new lease of life.

He added to the Star: "Anyway there is much more stuff to do in life than watch telly."

The TV presenter has suffered with his health in the past, including two heart attacks.

And last year he was rushed to hospital in Delhi after falling seriously ill while filming scenes for ITV’s For The Love Of Dogs: India.
