Peter Andre reveals he's off to Los Angeles this week after landing his first ever movie role

The 45-year-old star has landed a leading part in new film The Inheritance, which is directed by British director James Hickox, and is due to start shooting this week.

Announcing the news on Instagram today, he confessed: "Finally….this week I’m working with this great guy, Director James Hickox in Los Angeles.

"My first Film ever. Also recording my 13th studio album to mark 25 years . Exciting times :)) Ever so grateful as always for the support:)."

Peter and James worked together on his TV series Peter Andre's Greek Odyssey, which saw the Mysterious Girl hitmaker travel around Greece, exploring the food and culture.

The father-of-four first announced his career change back in April, when he shared a snap of himself holding the script.

He wrote alongside the shot: "Finally I’ve received (after months of talks) my first ever film script. Start filming in LA next year, and…it’s a damn big part…. wahoo.!

"I’ve only waited 44 years. @jhickox I’ll see you soon brother."

The movie was originally called The Undoing, but has since been changed to The Inheritance.

James has worked on movies including 1987 cult sci-fi Masters of the Universe and 1986 flick Little Shop of Horrors.

Peter – who recently tipped his son Junior for a stellar acting career – was quickly inundated with messages of good luck from fans, with one enthusing: "You’ll be awesome @peterandre not a lot you can’t turn your hand to, good luck and safe travels X"

Another gushed: "Well you’ve now added another string to your bow Pete. Good luck and enjoy the experience as an actor in sunny LA!"
