Roxanne Pallett was airlifted to hospital after crashing into a concrete wall at high speed during a stock car race, it has been reported.
According to The Sun, the former Emmerdale actress blacked out for 30 seconds and had to be cut free from the wreckage by firefighters.
Roxanne, 36, was racing her Minster FM radio co-host Ben Fry at the time of the incident at Hunmanby Raceway in York on Wednesday.
The soap star was then airlifted 41 miles away to Hull Royal Infirmary suffering from severe bruising and two sprained wrists.
A source told the Sun Online: "She tried to overtake Ben on a bend and was travelling too fast and smashed into the concrete wall on the track.
"She lost consciousness for about 30 seconds on impact. Fortunately she was wearing a helmet and race gear."
Shock pictures from the scene show Roxanne’s battered car, as it’s claimed it took firefighters two hours to cut her free from the wreckage.
A source at the scene told The Sun the actress was loaded into an air ambulance on a back board.
Mirror Online has contacted representatives of Roxanne for comment.
In February this year, Roxanne told how she’d quit acting and turned to radio after receiving cruel jibes about her looks.
After quitting her role as Emmerdale’s Jo Sugden in 2009, Roxanne claimed she has been told to lose weight and get Botox in order to win more acting roles.
"I have been told to lose weight, get Botox and change my accent to get a casting," Roxanne told the Star On Sunday.
"I wasn’t prepared to do that. I don’t feel appreciated as an actress so I am quitting the industry," she revealed.
