Shannen Doherty is undergoing reconstructive surgery more than two years after first revealing her breast cancer diagnosis to the world.
The “Charmed” star posted a photo with her mother from a hospital bed on Sunday.
“Happy Mother’s Day mom. I only bring you to the best places … hospital food … yum,” Doherty, 47, captioned the sweet snap. “I love you. Thank you for always being there. I’d write more but pain pills are kicking in. @themamarosa #reconstruction.”
The “90210” star was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2015. In late April 2017, she revealed that she was in remission, but said she must monitor her condition for recurrences for at least five years.
In April, Doherty revealed that one of two tumor marker tests came back elevated, though she is still in remission.
Doherty’s mother, Rosa, has been a constant presence in the actress’ cancer battle, even undergoing her own tumor marker tests and a bone density scan in April, both of which came back clear.
Earlier this month, Doherty announced that she was banking blood her surgery.
While Doherty is currently healthy, she admitted that she fears her cancer, which started in her breasts and spread to her lymph nodes, could return.
“There is always anxiety waiting for test results to come back. Reoccurrences happen,” she wrote in April. “I can’t imagine how it must feel to beat back cancer only to have it return again. For now, I stay positive, stay healthy and do what I can to help promote research so that cancer can be beaten once and for all.
