Susanna Reid sticks up for Emily Ratajkowski in heated Twitter spat with Piers Morgan

SUSANNA Reid came to the defence of Emily Ratajkowski on Twitter tonight after her Good Morning Britain co-host Piers Morgan continued his criticism of the model for writhing semi-naked covered in spaghetti for the LOVE advent calendar.

The 47-year-old former BBC Breakfast presenter wrote that it seemed perfectly acceptable that model Ratajkowski would promote her feminism in that way, in response to Piers' latest column for the Daily Mail.

Setting out reasons for why Emily did the provocative shoot, she tweeted: "a) she’s a model who earns her living by wearing underwear b) this photoshoot was in keeping with her employment c) she says men judge women by their sexual appearance – so she herself was exaggerating that image as an act of defiance."

Relentless, Piers continued to ask his co-star if writhing in spaghetti was empowering to women.

Susanna replied: "As she is an underwear model, it seems perfectly in keeping that she expresses her feminism in this way."

Adding: "I think her message: women’s bodies, however overtly they choose to express their sexuality, are their own – is a feminist one."

This morning, Piers responded to the Blurred Lines babe's interview with Grazia Magazine in which she called him "sexist."

He said: "You know our old friend Emily Ratajkowski, the global bimbo who parades naked in spaghetti for Feminist empowerment?

"She's been asked about my Tweets about her," as he mimicked an American accent and read out her comments.

He quizzed: "What does any of that even mean Emily?

"You were just writhing naked in spaghetti – Emmeline Pankhurst you're not love.

"Sorry that's it – you're not.

"It's not about sexism or feminism, it's not."

"What a senseless waste of pasta.

"We know from looking at you you don't eat pasta – what a waste."” target=”_blank” title=”Click to share on Twitter
