Iceland just scooped best ice cream for 2018 just in time for summer

Just as the weather heats up, so does Iceland’s competition, as the supermarket have annoucned their 58p Luxury Triple Dipped Salted Caramel Majestic’s bagged the top spot at the 2018 BFFF awards this year.

The Luxury Triple Dipped Salted Caramel Majestics took home the crown for Best Retail Product, beating Magnum’s Double Caramel Ice- Cream, which comes to 68p per stick.

Iceland’s delicious ice cream was rewarded for its ‘indulgent flavour and fantastic value’, and the ice cream’s ‘outer milk chocolate shell of the award-winning sweet treat hides a salted caramel ice cream dipped in chocolate and salted caramel sauce’.

Neil Nugent, Head Chef at Iceland, said: “Our Majestic ice creams are the best on the market and the BFFF award proves it! We’ve worked hard to perfect the recipe, striking the right balance with the flavour and texture to give our customers the most incredible yet affordable ice cream we can create.”

Iceland’s Luxury Triple Dipped Raspberry & Chocolate Majestics even picked up a silver award at the event too. Both are available in stores nationwide and online.

And that’s not all, Iceland also beat stiff competition at the The Grocer Gold Awards to take home best ‘Own Label Range of the Year, for it’s Luxury own label range for the first time.

It fought off competition from Aldi, Asda and Co-Op, after the introduction of 60 new lines to it’s luxury range last September, including Luxury Canadian Lobster, Luxury Chateaubriand with Red Wine Sauce to everyday value products such as Luxury Oak Smoked Back Bacon, Luxury Four-Slice Brioche Rolls and Luxury Coleslaw.

It’s been so successful that the retailer has sold over half a million lobsters every year since the Cooked Canadian Lobster was introduced for Christmas 2014.

Nugent, speaking about the Luxury range, said “We have developed our Luxury range with care and precision, only adding the very best food to the label. We’re so proud of the Grocer Gold win and we’ll continue to create delicious products to join the rest of the range.”

The win comes as the retailer continues to grow its beers, wines and spirits range, award wins have increased. At this year’s prestigious IWSC awards, Iceland took home five accolades including silver medals for its Duc du Montgerald Chateauneauf-du-Pape and Duc du Montgerald Sancerre.
