Inter Milan had their players’ Instagram handles printed on the back of their shirts ahead of their Serie A clash against Cagliari on Tuesday evening – and the decision didn’t go down well with fans.
The bizarre marketing move was revealed by the club prior to their Serie A clash against Cagliari, with the hashtag #InterSocialNight.
The promotion meant that Inter’s stars had their Instagram handles replace their surnames on their jerseys.
At first it seemed as though the Italian giants would wear the social media jerseys for the Tuesday night clash, but the players took to the pitch donning their original shirts.
Despite Inter not wearing the social shirts for the game, fans were still baffled by the decision.
One supporter tweeted: "Inter Milan’s Players Will Have Their Instagram Handles On The Back Of Their Shirts Tonight, for what? I’m yet to find out lol."
Another added: "Inter Milan putting Instagram handles instead of player names on the back of the shirts against Cagliari. So unnecessary and really not needed."
