This is the one royal tradition Meghan Markle can't ditch at her wedding… and it involves the Queen

Meghan, 36, and Prince Harry, 33, are set to tie the knot on Saturday May 19 and ALL protocols, no matter how archaic or odd, will have to be followed.

A wedding is normally all about the bride – but that changes when you're dining with royalty.

Meghan spent Christmas with the royals, and dined with the Queen at Sandringham.

So she'll probably already be aware of the meal time rule which bans anyone from eating after the Queen has had her last mouthful.

As the reigning monarch, everyone eating with Elizabeth II has to take her lead – and do as she does.

This means, when she has her last bite, everyone at the table must do the same – no matter how hungry they still are.

Another weird rule prevents the Queen and other royals from eating foods like mussels and rare steak when dining out.

They're advised to steer clear of foods which could cause food poisoning, like shellfish, rare meat and tap water when they're abroad.

The Queen is said to rigidly follow the tradition to the letter, but other members of her family – like Prince Charles – aren't so strict with themselves.

This isn't the only tradition Meghan will pick up when she joins the Royal Family.

She will have to start packing a black mourning outfit for all trips abroad, in case of the sudden death of a family member.

And, from a top celebrity stylist to a royal icon, meet the VERY glam women in the running to be Meghan Markle’s maid of honour.
