Royal baby could spark secret meetings between Thomas Markle and Meghan… despite his fears he’d never see his future grandkids

FOR many couples expecting a baby, sharing the news with family is one of the most joyful moments.

And a royal expert has revealed why Meghan Markle’s baby could potentially help heal the rift between the Duchess, 37, and her dad Thomas Markle.

Prince Harry and Meghan broke the exciting news to senior royals at Princess Eugenie’s wedding on Friday and Meghan’s mum is "very happy” – but when the Sun Online asked if Meghan's dad had been informed, we were told the royals were making "no comment."

Despite Thomas Markle admitting to the Daily Mail that he feared he'd never see any future grandkids, there could be hope of a reconciliation.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliam told the Sun Online that patching up their relationship will take a lot of time.

He said: “We know that there is a problem there, that has been obvious for some time. The only way that is likely to be solved is quietly with time.

“It’s a matter of speculation, but I suspect very strongly there may well be efforts made in future months to bring him and Meghan together but that will be private.”

The royal expert also added that it’s not surprising that Meghan may not have shared the news with Thomas Markle, before Kensington Palace made the official announcement.

He said: “There is no doubt that you wouldn’t tell something that nobody else knows to someone who would conceivably broadcast it further.

“You wouldn’t share news that was as sensitive as this with someone who has spoken to the press.”

Thomas previously told the Mail: "What's sad is that some time in the next year Meghan and Harry will have a baby and I'll be a grandfather, and if we're not speaking I won't see my grandchild.

"How tragic is that, to deprive a child of its grandfather because I said a few things critical of the Royal Family?"

Richard said that mum Doria Ragland is likely to come over from LA during Meghan’s pregnancy to help her daughter and celebrate in the happy news.

He explained: “We know Doria is delighted and she is very close to Meghan.”

Kensington Palace announced the news this morning, five months after the couple married at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle.

Richard gave his top baby name predictions for the baby royal, and said the famous couple may look to current royals for inspiration.

He said: “I think Philip would be ideal as it would pay tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh who has been so unswerving in his support of the royal family and the Queen.

“I can’t help thinking that Diana will feature as a middle name but I would be surprised if it was a girl if they called her Diana.

“I would rather favour Mary, but they are talking about Alice and of course don’t forget Victoria.

“She was a historic monarch with an age named after her and much more understood nowadays.”

Richard echoed the views of royal etiquette expert Myka Meier, who said we might see Prince Harry and Meghan selecting a non-tradition middle name.

He said: “There is something very unique about the forthcoming baby. There is no doubt that diversity may feature in one of the three middle names.”

Myka told the Sun Online: “In the wedding she had several nods to her American heritage and I think we will see the same with the baby.

“I think we will see them playing with a middle name. I don’t believe it will be one of Meghan’s family's names.

"But I do believe it could be a name with a significant meaning.

“Maybe something symbolic of their travels together.

"They both have a love of Africa, maybe it could be something there, something that has meaning.”

Richard said the couple announcing they are expecting a baby at the start of a royal tour is “particularly joyous”, and perhaps a poignant decision.

He said: “It’s absolutely joyous. The first official appearance of Harry and Meghan and their romance was at Invictus.

“Now the Invictus is the focal point of the 16-day tour and now we have happy news to go with it.

“It is such a wonderful lift to start the tour and anyone who thinks the monarchy isn’t particularly theatre should think again.”

Richard speculated that the timing was delayed until after Princess Eugenie’s wedding, to avoid the limelight being taken from the event.

He said: “It was after Princess Eugenie’s wedding as that would have stole the thunder.

“To announce it at the beginning of a tour, it’s happy news and it’ll make the host nations who are looking forward to welcoming them particularly blessed.

“Meghan will be facing a pretty gruelling 70+ engagements and it seems she is as ease with this and the Zika virus threat in Tonga.”
