Dannii Minogue has decided that all she wants to do is reunite with her Let It Shine co-star Gary Barlow – and do a bit of performing too.
The Aussie singer has announced that she’s supporting Take That on the Australian leg of their tour when it kicks off in November, with both Dannii’s and Take That’s spokespeople confirming the news to Digital Spy.
“We’re thrilled to have Dannii on tour with us,” Take That added in a statement. “She is a force to be reckoned with and having her on the tour makes it extra special. We can’t wait to come to Australia and tour with her.”
Dannii has also shared some of her excitement about the news with Australia’s Daily Telegraph too.
“I’ll be going to cities around Australia where I’ve never performed my music with a live band before,” she said.
“I think pairing with Take That is perfect, I think we’d have a lot of fans who would have been listening to us at around the same time. We used to cross paths at TV shows in the UK all the time in the ’90s, so it’ll be nice to do something together after all this time.”
Dannii will play five dates with Take That between November 11 and November 19 and she has nothing but praise for the band themselves, describing them as “warm and giving” and adding that their support during the Ariana Grande One Love Manchester tribute concert in June was “amazing”.
“They really command an audience,” she continued. “And they’ve had so many great pop hits.”
We shouldn’t expect this to be the start of a pop comeback for Minogue though, who’s been enjoying a new career on TV in recent years with gigs on The X Factor in both the UK and Australia, as well as a run hosting Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model in 2013 an Australia’s Got Talent between 2007 and 2012.
“There’s no grand plan or huge comeback or any of those words that for me have an attachment of pressure,” she said. “I just want to do the music for fun and freedom.”
“I can’t talk about it yet,” she said. “It’s very exciting and bit of a change for me, but it never strays far from what I’ve done which is performing, TV and entertainment.”
While we’ll have to wait to find out what Dannii’s getting up to next, you can stay tuned for the digital release of ‘Holding On’, a song she’s been performing recently, as well as another song by Sia.
