DJ, producer and Major Lazer star Diplo has opened up about, erm, opening up and letting it all flow out.
Speaking to GQ about life on the road (he takes 320 flights a year), Diplo was asked what the weirdest thing he had ever eaten was.
“I’ve had baby eggs,” he said. “They’re a speciality in Manila. You eat the whole egg with the baby in it. But I don’t get too risky while on tour because I don’t want to get sick.
“The worst thing that can happen on tour is getting sick because then you have to cancel shows and rehab yourself.
“Actually, that’s not the worst thing. The worst thing is DJ-ing with diarrhoea.”
The star then gave his best tips for dealing with gastrointestinal distress while dropping beats almost as sick as you are, stating:
“You have to get through it. You’re like in Vegas or something and… whatever. It’s the worst. You just have to concentrate, get it done. I’m a soldier”
You could say that Diplo is a pooper trooper.
Diplo (and Major Lazer) will be performing as part of the Hideout festival from June 26 to 30. You can find details about that, and every festival happening this year, in our ultimate guide right here.
In the meantime, let’s listen to the criminally underrated ‘Beat of My Drum’, partly because Diplo helped write and produce, partly because it’s amazing:
