We’re in an era of remakes and comebacks, the music world being no exception. Even Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose and Slash kissed and made up, which we never thought possible. If they can do it, anyone can. Right?
Well, not the White Stripes, it seems. The former husband and wife duo broke up in 2011, and Jack White is pretty certain that they are a thing of the past.
In a lengthy interview with Rolling Stone, the star talked about his current songwriting, and how he sometimes writes songs that sound like his old projects The Raconteurs or the Dead Weather.
When asked if he ever writes any White Stripes songs, he laughed and said: “That doesn’t really happen too much.
“There is a case to be made that in a lot of ways, the White Stripes is Jack White solo. In a lot of ways… I’m sure if Billy Corgan called his solo album Smashing Pumpkins, it probably would’ve sold twice as many copies or whatever.
“I highly doubt (a reunion) would ever be a thing.”
Elsewhere in the interview, White talked about changing his stance on using computers in creating music, as well as how he struggles to ask his audience if they’re having a good time, and he revealed his distaste for DJ Khaled in the most sarcastic way possible.
