Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas Markle, is no longer attending the wedding of his daughter and Prince Harry this weekend.
According to TMZ, Thomas Markle – who has recently been caught up in a media storm over paparazzi photographs – will not be going to the royal wedding on Saturday (May 19).
It’s believed that a bout of ill health, as well as the recent fallout from Markle allegedly selling photos of himself to the media, is the reason for him missing the celebrations.
Digital Spy has reached out to Kensington Palace for comment.
Meghan Markle’s half-sister Samantha made headlines ahead of this weekend’s royal wedding after taking responsibility for the recent controversial photographs of her father.
“I have to say, I am entirely the culprit, as we know the media can take very unflattering photographs of people on their casual days and blow it way out of proportion,” she told today’s Loose Women.

“I said the world has no idea that you’re getting in shape and doing healthy things. They photograph in the most unflattering ways you can. You need to show the world that you’re getting in shape and doing good and healthy things.”
She continued: “There’s a lot of scrutiny that it was money motivated – it was not. It was my suggestion to benefit him and to benefit the royal family that everyone look good.”
Meghan Markle will marry Prince Harry this Saturday, May 19 at St George’s Chapel in the grounds of Windsor Castle.
The Palace previously confirmed that both of Meghan’s parents will be arriving in the United Kingdom the week before the wedding, so they can spend time with the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Camilla, and Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge.
“Ms. Markle is delighted to have her parents by her side on this important and happy occasion,” the palace said in a statement.
