For ten years (give or take three for that hiatus), Girls Aloud ruled the charts with their genre-defining songs that ignored convention, formula and, sometimes, sense. It was a wonderful time in pop.
But then life got cold in 2013 when the group announced their split via a TWITLONGER of all things, and without the ‘Untouchable’ five-piece to light the way, everything went wrong: tropical house, the resurgence of Justin Bieber, the absolute mess of the singles chart.
There were rumours that Nadine Coyle – Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year 2017, sworn enemy of wasps and frequent passport misplacer – was working with Xenomania, the production house responsible for the group’s otherworldly sound.
Now those rumours have been confirmed: Nadine revealed that she has signed to Virgin EMI (the home of Taylor Swift, Shawn Mendes, Katy Perry, Lorde and so many more).
Writing on her Instagram, Nadine said: “I am so excited to be with Virgin EMI.
“It has all felt like a dream! I cannot wait for you to hear the music!!!”
Nadine previously released a solo album, Insatiable, in 2010 through her own label via a Tesco-exclusive distribution deal.
It was decent for what it was, but we really want an album of icy disco gems and bangers combining crazy guitars, whizzing synths and the kitchen sink.
This will do very nicely.
