Cardi shows a bouquet of flowers that Taylor sent her after her ‘Bodak Yellow’ trumped ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ on Hot 100.
Taylor Swift shows that there’s no hard feelings between her and Cardi B despite the latter’s recent win on Hot 100. Cardi’s “Boday Yellow” dethroned Taylor’s “Look What You Made Me Do” which had topped the chart for three weeks before.
The country-turned-pop-superstar sent the raptress flowers on Tuesday, September 26. Cardi took to Instagram that night to post a video showing a bouquet of pink flowers sent to her by Taylor. “Sooo beautiful and lovely .Thank you @taylorswift for the flowers ….and I freaking love your music,” she captioned it.
Previously on Monday, the Bronx femcee reacted in an Instagram video when her song topped the chart. “THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, I haven’t even showered son with all the running around,” so she captioned the clip. “Loveee you all each and everybody contributed for this. Ya made it happen for me!!! The number 1 WAY!!”
Cardi’s friends and family celebrated the rapper’s success with a surprise bash. She was accused of taking a subtle jab at Taylor when she sang a verse from “Look What You Made Me Do” during her speech at the party.
She, however, told Billboard that she really loved Taylor’s new song. “It was a lovely surprise. It was kinda like a close race. It was like when Obama was running for president,” she said of taking over the top spot from Taylor. “Like, damn, why’d it have to be Taylor Swift? I like her, I like that damn song.”
“Look What You Made Me Do” now sits at No. 3, behind Cardi’s “Bodak Yellow” and Post Malone’s “Rockstar” feat. 21 Savage. “Bodak Yellow” is the only second song by an unaccompanied female rapper to ever top the chart after Lauryn Hill did so in 1998 with “Doo Wop (That Thing)”. She’s also the first female rapper of color to appear on a No. 1 hit since Lil’ Kim collaborated with Pink, Mya and Christina Aguilera for 2001’s “Lady Marmalade”.
