Paul Walker Documentary Is Finally Happening

Paramount announced their plans to make a documentary based on the life of the late actor Paul Walker.

Paramount Network, Network Entertainment and producer Derik Murray are teaming up in what they promise will be a comprehensive look at the life and times of the actor who died in 2013.

Adrian Buitenhuis will direct the film titled I Am Paul Walker. Buitenhuis also worked on the documentary movie I Am Heath Ledger about the late Australian actor. The feature is set to contain interviews with Walker’s Fast and Furious castmates as well as close friends of the star, say producers. It will also take a closer look at Walker’s rise to fame, the work he did throughout his career as well as his philanthropic endeavors helping preserve the world’s oceans. The cast is expected to be announced within the coming months.

Walker enjoyed a slew of box office success but is mainly known for his work as Brian O’Connor in the Fast and Furious franchise, which he starred in alongside Vin Diesel. The actor died in a single-vehicle crash on Nove. 30, 2013. He was on his way to an event for his charity benefiting victims of Typhoon Haiyan with his friend Roger Rodas, when his Porsche Carrera GT crashed into a concrete lamp post and two trees, catching fire. Rodas perished from his multiple injuries while Walker succumbed to a combination of trauma and burns.

In 2015, Walker’s daughter filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Porsche, claiming that the vehicle had a plethora of design flaws that could have significantly contributed to the crash. Porsche denied any wrongdoing, instead blaming the actor for his fate. “The perils, risk and danger were open and obvious and known to him, and he chose to conduct himself in a manner so as to expose himself to such perils, dangers and risks, thus assuming all the risks involved in using the vehicle.” Both Meadow and her grandfather settled with the car manufacturer for an undisclosed amount.
