The ‘Black Widow’ songstress has tapped the British crooner for a dreamy cover of her new song, which will be featured on her upcoming album.
Rita Ora made a musical comeback this year with “Your Song”, a new single co-written by her best friend and fellow singer Ed Sheeran. The track was released in May, and it successfully peaked at No. 7 on U.K.’s music charts. While Ed was not featured on the song, Rita has now treated her fans to a video that finds her teaming up with the British crooner for a stripped-down performance of “Your Song”.
The video, which was filmed backstage at The Staples Center in Los Angeles during Ed’s recent gig, begins with both stars introducing themselves. The “Shape of You” hitmaker then provides background music and backup vocal as he strums his acoustic guitar. Our ears are blessed as Rita perfectly harmonizes and passionately belts out the romantic song.
On why she decided to recruit Ed on “Your Song”, Rita recently shared, “Ed and I have been friends since our teens. It’s brilliant to have the opportunity to collaborate with him for my first single–we definitely click creatively.”
“The record that I have with Ed, he’s not featured on, he just wrote,” she revealed. “For me it’s one of the most sweetest, heartwarming, incredible love songs/reality that I’ve ever heard. I did this incredibly beautiful song with Ed about our friendship; he’s one of my best friends. It’s amazing having a friend in this industry of the opposite sex that you haven’t hooked up with.”
“Your Song” is Rita’s first single off her upcoming second studio album, which is expected to arrive in early 2018. The effort will be the follow-up to 2012’s “Ora”. “The album is going to come out and it’s going to be major,” the songstress previously said of the new album. “I’ve been working on it for ages. There’s some amazing people on it and amazing surprises.”
