The Weeknd made everyone cry (including himself) at Coachella

Beyoncé is yet to perform at Coachella, but The Weeknd has threatened to steal all the headlines this year with an emotional performance.

The R&B singer returned to the festival to headline its first night, and had loads of the people in the crowd, and himself, in floods of tears.

Towards the end of his set he played the tracks ‘Call Out My Name’ and ‘Privilege’, which allude to very personal heartache and breakups.

That’s what finally set him off, with many fans speculating that the songs are about his relationship and split from Selena Gomez.

“2 omg my poor guy 😭😭😭❤️” said one fan on Instagram.

“He has touched my heart,” said another.

And Twitter was filled with people talking about the performance, and what may have triggered all that emotion.

The Weeknd and Selena apparently got together last spring after he split from Bella Hadid.

But the couple didn’t last, splitting up less than a year later.

Coachella 2018 is headlines by The Weeknd, Beyoncé and Eminem and takes place over two weekends.

The first weekend runs from April 13-15, with the second a week later from April 20-22.

Other artists booked to perform include Soulwax, The War on Drugs, Fleet Foxes, St Vincent, Haim, Tyler the Creator, Chic, David Byrne and Cardi B.
