Our West Coast tipsters say YouTube boss Susan Wojcicki is gaining traction as Uber’s search firm Heidrick and Struggles continues its interviews. “They’ve been having conversations,” says a source who believes she is currently one of the top candidates.
Also cropping up in conversations is former Cisco chief technology officer Padmasree Warrior. She is CEO of NIO, a self-driving car company.
Meanwhile, the Google lawsuit over self-driving car technology continues to weigh heavily on the board. “It’s the reason [former Uber CEO] Travis [Kalanick] isn’t there. The board believes the suit is real.” The source suggested that if Google wins the suit, it could swoop in and take a piece of Uber.
One thing seems certain: Uber’s next boss will be female.
