Liverpool have cooled their interest in Roma goalkeeper Alisson.
Reports in Italy claim that Jurgen Klopp had revived the club’s bid for the £58million-rated Brazilian No.1.
But Mirror Football understands there has been no contact at all with either the player or club from Liverpool.
Alisson emerged as target towards the back end of last season when he impressed during Liverpool’s Champions League victory over the Italian side.
And they were keen on making a deal happen earlier in the window.
However, with less than a month before the summer transfer business ends ahead of the new Premier League season, it is understood that the Reds will be sticking with Loris Karius for now.
Mirror Football’s Merseyside reporter David Maddock tweeted today: "Widespread reports in Italy on €65m Liverpool bid for Alisson…completely wrong (unfortunately). NO bid from LFC, no contact at all with player or club. No plans to bid at this stage either.
"Was some interest earlier in window, but cooled and not revived."
Karius was maligned after his error-strewn performance in the Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid in May.
It was revealed after the game that he had suffered from concussion.
He has featured in both of Liverpool’s pre-season friendlies this summer, in wins over Chester and Tranmere.
But it was against League Two Tranmere where he was seemingly at fault for one of the goals and was derided by Liverpool-supporting Rovers player Ben Tollitt, who branded the German "f****** s***".
Will Alisson sign for Liverpool this summer?
