Atletico Madrid have confirmed the signing of Thomas Lemar from Monaco in a big-money deal thought to be worth around £63.2m (€72m).
The former Arsenal and Liverpool target’s France team-mate Antoine Griezmann has also committed his long-term future to the club by signing a new deal until 2023.
Griezmann was strongly linked with a move to Barcelona, but revealed his intention to stay ahead of the World Cup in the form of a video titled "The Decision."
The good news continues for Diego Simeone with French defender Lucas Hernandez also penning new terms to tie his future to the Wanda Metropolitano until 2024.
The trio posed with CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin and sporting director Andrea Berta at the France camp in Istria, Russia.
Lemar was a target for Arsenal and Liverpool last summer, but the French side stood firm after a number of sales following their Champions League success.
Atletico have spent big on Lemar, with various reports over the final fee to be paid to Ligue 1 side.
Lemar helped Les Rouges et Blancs to second place in Ligue 1 last term, scoring two goals and assisting 10 more.
The 22-year-old is part of Les Bleus’ World Cup squad in Russia and will hope to settle quickly with the help of Griezmann.
