After 12 years at St James’ Park there is no place for Dutchman who spent last season on loan at Ajaz and AZ Alkmaar
The Dutchman, 29, was thought to be on his way to the South Coast for a medical on Thursday afternoon.
Tim Krul is wanted by Brighton on loan
The Newcastle keeper is not a favourite of current boss Rafa Benitez
Krul is surplus to requirements at St James’ Park and Rafa Benitez has been making him train with the Toon reserves.
Now the Seagulls are trying to sign Krul as competition for their current No1 Mathew Ryan.
They face competition from Nottingham Forest but the Holland international would prefer a Premier League club.
Krul has been at Newcastle for 12 years and was their No1 until he suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury in October 2015.
He spent last season on loan at Ajax and AZ Alkmaar and returned to Tyneside hoping to resume his Prem career.
But boss Benitez does not rate Krul and has not even awarded him a squad number for this season.
Now Rob Elliot, Karl Darlow and Freddie Woodman are all above him in the Toon pecking order.
Brighton are taking advantage of the fact that Krul has only one year left on his contract at Newcastle.

Therefore he will be a free agent next summer.
Presumably, if he has a good season at Brighton they could buy him for nothing next summer.

It all seems looks like a good deal for the Seagulls.
But Newcastle do have four keepers and this a great chance to get Krul, thought to earn around £60,000-a-week, off the wage bill.
