The 22-year-old featured for the Blues on their pre-season tour of Asia and played against Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan.
His loan move to Russia will potentially see him feature in Europe after the Russian side qualified for the Champions League after winning the league title last term.
Pasalic has played twice for Croatia but is yet to make a competitive appearance for Chelsea.
During his career he has already enjoyed loan spells at Elche, Monaco and AC Milan.
The German-born star joined the Blues in 2014 after impressing at Hajduk Split, where he made 32 appearances and scored 11 goals.
Pasalic has represented Croatia from the Under-14s all the way to Under-21 level before making his senior debut in 2014.

Pasalic has joined the likes of Kurt Zouma and Marco van Ginkel out on loan from Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have sent a number of players out on loan having already spent £144million this summer.
