Chelsea want Alessandro Florenzi from Roma as they join Juventus and Inter Milan in race for his signature

Gazzetta dello Sport claims the Italy international is set for a summer exit following a breakdown in contract talks with his capital club.

Florenzi is said to be demanding £3.5million-a-year in wages before extending his deal past 2019.

But Roma have no intention of paying that amount of money, and could now cash in as they look to avoid losing the ace on a free transfer next year.

Florenzi can play in central midfield or as a right-back, and looks set to become a key figure under new Italy boss Roberto Mancini.

Juventus and Inter Milan have both expressed an interest in securing his signature.

But it’s now been claimed that Chelsea could hijack the move despite doubts over Antonio Conte’s future.

It’s said that the Blues have made an approach and are now waiting for a response over Florenzi’s price-tag.

Chelsea and Roma have enjoyed a decent relationship in recent times, with Conte signing Emerson Palmieri from the Italians in January despite also failing to land Edin Dzeko.

Roma’s sporting director Monchi is always prepared to move players on for the right price, and Chelsea could now be set to add another Italian to their ranks.
