George Groves has likened his upcoming opponent Chris Eubank Jr and his dad Chris Sr to characters from the TV show The Office.
Groves defends his world super-middleweight title against the son of a legend on Saturday week in the semi-final of the World Boxing Super Series.
The pair have been embroiled in a war of words ahead of their mouthwatering pay-per-view clash.
And Groves has taken a dim view of the father-son partnership, comparing them to the delusional David Brent and his side-kick Gareth Keenan.
"I don’t know whether it’s Monty Python, the Office or Alan Partridge," he told The Guardian . "Actually it’s the Office. The dad is Ricky Gervais and the son is Gareth. And I’m Tim – the fellow who looks around at the camera and thinks, ‘Can’t anybody see what’s going on here?’
“Talksport did a video of Junior sparring and the dad decided, ‘I need to make this about me.’ But he embarrasses himself because he says: ‘Just go to the body’ – and Junior hits the kid straight in the chin.
"The lad he’s sparring has had two fights – won one, drawn one. But Junior looks terrible. He doesn’t even want dad there. You can see him thinking: ‘They’ve come down to video me, dad. It’s not about you.’ I can imagine they have a really difficult relationship."
Meanwhile, Groves has called for fighters found guilty of using performance-enhancing drugs to be banned for life.
Groves fights for the third time since his defeat of Eduard Gutknecht left the German with a serious brain injury and unable to walk or talk.
One of his stablemates, Erik Skoglund, also recently woke from a medically-induced coma after suffering a bleed on the brain, and the 29-year-old Groves said: "If you are doping you shouldn’t be allowed to compete again.
"We know it’s rife in sport: we know it. People turn a blind eye to it. You can probably name half-a-dozen fighters who have tested positive at some point and are now still boxing."
