The 37-year-old had contract at Leeds terminated and David Wagner explains signing ex-West Ham man ‘made sense’
The 37-year-old had his contract at Leeds terminated at the end of the summer.
Former England goalkeeper Rob Green has signed for Huddersfield
Rob Green was part of England squad for 2010 World Cup campaign
And the Premier League’s newboys have signed him up.
Terriers boss David Wagner was pleased with the signing, and said: “I think it makes total sense to bring Rob Green in because after Jonas Lossl, who has done an excellent job so far, we have very young goalkeepers with Joel Coleman and Ryan Schofield.
“I have spoken to Paul Clements and we agreed that we wanted to add more experience to our goalkeeper group.
“I met Rob and he is a very experienced guy and a good guy. He knows the role I expect from him in the next 10 months he’ll be with us. I’m very happy he can join us.”
Green made his professional debut in 1999 at Norwich and spent eight years with the Canaries before joining West Ham.
He was part of the England squad at the 2010 World Cup, but famously blundered to earn the USA a draw in the opening match — and was ruthlessly dropped by Fabio Capello.
