What Knicks execs were really laughing at in Carmelo video

ORLANDO, Fla. — Clarence Gaines Jr., former Knicks president Phil Jackson’s top adviser, reacted angrily when asked about an NBA TV video that some allege shows him and GM Steve Mills laughing at Carmelo Anthony’s workout tape.

The tape showed Anthony doing running drills on a soccer field in Chelsea at 1:45 a.m. Sunday, taken by former Knicks developmental coach Chris Brickley and posted on his Twitter account.

“I’m not commenting on that — get the f–k out of here with that,” Gaines said when surrounded by reporters.

Footage on NBA TV showed Gaines looking at his cellphone and showing Mills and Allan Houston his screen.

Gaines, Mills and Houston can be seen laughing and shaking their heads. Mills declined comment on what the joke was about.

However, a source, in confirming they were watching Anthony’s video, said Gaines was poking fun at Brickley, a close friend, and his New Hampshire accent. Brickley is heard barking instructions at Anthony during the drill.

The Knicks have had preliminary trade talks with the Rockets on Anthony since Houston acquired Chris Paul last week
