Manchester United star Luke Shaw determined not to let Jose Mourinho force him out of club

The England left-back once again came under fire from the Special One after he was hauled off at half-time during the FA Cup quarter-final victory over Brighton on Saturday.

And he is one of a host of players Mourinho will look to get rid of as part of a major summer overhaul at Old Trafford.

As many as nine players might be moved on as the Portuguese aims to continue his United revolution with another big spend.

But while he is unhappy with the way he has been treated by Mourinho, Shaw, 22, is ready to dig his heels in.

The ex-Southampton man knows he will be in a strong position as he will be into the final year of his contract in August.

He could change his mind if a move to Tottenham is on the table — while Chelsea may also re-ignite their interest.

Spurs chief Mauricio Pochettino could ask for the United man in part exchange if United make a move to land Danny Rose during the close season.

But Shaw knows he would be a free agent in summer 2019 and would have greater options to choose from, as well as a lucrative signing-on fee.

It is shaping up to be another summer of upheaval at United. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 36, and Belgian Marouane Fellaini are coming to the end of their contracts, while club skipper Michael Carrick, 36, is retiring at the end of the season.

The signs are that Fellaini is likely to snub the chance to stay so he can agree better terms elsewhere as a free agent.

In addition, United would almost certainly listen to offers for Matteo Darmian, Daley Blind, Ander Herrera and Andreas Pereira.

Then there are question marks over Chris Smalling, Anthony Martial and Juan Mata’s long-term futures, though it is unlikely they would all be moved on.

Ashley Young looks set to stay as cover at left-back after United triggered a one-year extension to his deal.

As well as Rose, Mourinho is believed to be keen on Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred, who was a target for Manchester City in January.
