Spurs boss digs deep to meet cost of team-bonding meal at top London restaurant as he prepares for clash with capital rivals West Ham. Pochettino says night out at steak eatery is as important as working on tactics in training
The generous Spurs boss picked up the whopping tab after inviting FIFTY of his club colleagues, including chairman Levy, to his team-bonding get-together at posh West End diner Beast on Wednesday night.

Pochettino, whose team travel to West Ham today, said: “We had a dinner at a restaurant in London with all the staff and players that I invited, of course.
“I paid the bill at the end to make sure it was the one time that I was invited.
“Tactics do not only take place inside the club, they take place outside too. This night was just as important as the work we do on the pitch.
“To work well on the pitch we all need to know each other better off it, to see each other in a different environment, to get to know them better and to speak with them in a different way.
“This was a rare chance to do that because we are so busy playing matches or training.
“It creates links between them, emotion. And when you must fight in a competition, there’s a willingness to care more for your teammates and care more for the gaffer that pays the bill.”

Pochettino did not reveal how much the bill came to, but a look at the swanky eatery’s menu – where the best steak costs £13 per kg and some vino £33 a GLASS – tells you he would not have received much change, if any, out of £7k.
World renowned restaurant critic and Masterchef star Jay Rayner said of Beast: “I don’t even think I’d advise you not to go. As long as you go with someone else’s money, because God knows you’ll need a lot of it.

“Got any friends who are, say, international drug barons? Excellent. They may be able to afford dinner.
“It’s worth going to see what the unmitigated male ego looks like, when expressed as a restaurant.”
But Pochettino believes it was money well spent. He said: “We always try to find the way to stay
together out of the training ground because all that happens is so different.

“It is so difficult to find a day or night altogether. It’s such a busy schedule that we have, we play every two or three days and then all are away for international break.
“Wednesday was a very good day to stay altogether outside and laugh and share in a different atmosphere.”
After noshing the best steak on Wednesday, Pochettino and his players now hope to spit out West Ham in their Premier League crunch tomorrow lunchtime.
