Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic… as Valentine’s Day approaches, take a look at the Premier League’s best partnerships

FORGET Harry Kane and Dele Alli, or Kevin De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus, Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are this season's best attacking partnership.

As Valentine's Day approaches, we take a look at some of the Premier League's best-ever partnerships, past and present, thanks to research from bwin.

And it's Reds pairing Salah and Mane who top the list, proving Jurgen Klopp can cope without now-Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho.

The flying forwards have contributed five goals for each other in just 956 minutes – the equivalent of 17.9 goals per season.

Meanwhile, Manchester United boast the second-best duo in 2017-18, as Anthony Martial and Romelu Lukaku join forces for a projected 17.3 goals this season.

Alexis Sanchez's arrival therefore could prove more harm than good, as he looks set to split the pair up ahead of February 14.

Meanwhile, Kane is present in THREE of the top ten duos this season – linking up with Alli, Kieran Trippier and Son Heung-min to devastating effect all season long.

De Bruyne and Jesus sit fifth in the standings, behind West Ham's Marko Arnautovic and Manuel Lanzini – and ahead of Cesar Azpilicueta and Alvaro Morata.

Everton pair Wayne Rooney and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are another top couple, despite the age gap, while Southampton duo Dusan Tadic and Charlie Austin crack the top ten couples.

But it's not just attackers who can enjoy blossoming partnerships… defenders love to team up too.

Looking through Premier League history, based on centre-backs to play for at least 5,000 minutes, which pairing conceded the fewest projected goals per season?

Incredibly it's not Man United duo Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic – who come in second – but Liverpool legends Jamie Carragher and Daniel Agger.

The Reds duo conceded an average of 24.3 goals per season when playing together – just ahead of Rio and Vidic (24.6).

Other big-name duos to break into the top ten include John Terry and William Gallas, JT and Ricardo Carvalho, Sol Campbell and Kolo Toure, as well as Tony Adams and Martin Keown.…%20as%20Valentine's%20Day%20approaches%2C%20take%20a%20look%20at%20the%20Premier%20League's%20best%20partnerships” target=”_blank” title=”Click to share on Twitter
