Newcastle ‘hopeful of securing shock deal’ for European striker

Newcastle are hopeful of completing a deal for Atletico Madrid striker Kevin Gameiro.

The Frenchman has fallen down the pecking order in Spain and is considering his future this month.

Rafa Benitez is eager to strengthen this month and believes Gameiro would boost his side’s survival chances.

The Express reports Atletico have made a move for Gameiro but may struggle to persuade him to move.

Will the deal get done?

Transfer news from the Daily Mirror

Antonio Conte is ready to end his hunt for a big striker after Chelsea made a £50million deal to sign Edin Dzeko.

Borussia Dortmund are demanding Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud in part exchange for fellow striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – or they will put the deal off until the summer.

Charlton have agreed to sell England Under-20 World Cup winner Ezri Konsa for £5million. Liverpool and Everton are both keen.

West Brom risk losing Jonny Evans for just £3million in the summer if they do not cash in on him now. It is understood the West Brom skipper has a £3m escape clause should the Baggies be relegated from the Premier League.
