Neymar admits his father has always been a powerful ally in his life
Despite the controversies surrounding his former footballer father which have come to light at various stages of his career, Neymar insists he has performed a massive role in his development.
He said: “My father has been by my side since I was little. He takes care of things, my finances and my family.
“He is the one who is in charge. He’s the boss.”
Paris Saint-Germain are expected to pay Neymar Jnr.’s £196m release clause to secure the deal this week.
However, as part of the contract extension he penned at the Nou Camp last summer, his father is due £23m in compensation as the Brazil international was still a Barcelona player on July 31.
But the La Liga club chiefs are investigating any possible means to avoid paying the sum as he is set to leave just days after the deadline passed.

In the early part of his career, Neymar was represented by the notorious Wagner Ribeiro.
However, the duo parted ways after Ribeiro tried to force Santos to sell the then 18-year-old to Chelsea in a £20m deal back in 2010.
Aware they had one of the biggest talents in football, the Brazilian club slowly began expanding their commercial deals around the star.

Neymar’s father replaced Wagner Ribeiro as his agent
In November 2010, they reportedly sold a five per cent share of future transfer fees to investment group Terceira Estrela Investimentos S.A. (TEISA) for around £1m.
While, a year earlier his family were alleged to have sold a 40 per cent stake in Neymar’s sporting rights to DIS Esporte Group, who had been a long-term partner to Santos.
It was that deal in particular which sparked the legal wrangle surrounding the 2013 transfer to Barcelona.

The total fee was initially revealed as £48.6m and DIS claimed they hadn’t received half of the amount owed.
It was later confirmed Barcelona had paid £75m, but that Neymar’s parents had earned £35m — and the scandal led to the immediate resignation of then president Sandro Rosell.
Neymar Santos Snr. had taken over as his son’s official agent and became embroiled in an ongoing court battle with DIS.
The group’s owner, Delcir Sonda, hit out at the star’s father, accusing him of being a “vagabond, who had become rich overnight due to the success of his son.”
Neymar Santos Snr. claimed his son had been cleared of any wrongdoing last month.

After Barcelona’s US tour, Neymar Jnr. travelled to China for commercial obligations and then on to Dubai for a reported PSG medical.
However, his father went back to Catalonia to discuss his own personal fee, where he enraged the club’s hierarchy be telling them his son was still “unsure” over where his future lay.
The move was considered nothing more than a ploy to ensure he received the money, with Barca certain the player had made his mind over a move to France.
Should Neymar Santos Snr. receive the £23m compensation from the Catalans, he will incredibly have earned more than Lionel Messi from the club since 2013.
And, with a huge agency fee due from the imminent PSG deal, it will be a very successful week indeed.
