Police footage shows awful wreckage of Jets rookie’s DWI crash

Chris Herndon is lucky to be alive right now.

The Jets rookie tight end, who was charged with a DWI after being involved in a car accident in June, crashed in horrific fashion. Police bodycam footage obtained by TMZ shows Herndon’s car flipped over on its side after the accident on Route 80 West in Rockaway Township, NJ.

The Post’s Brian Costello reported in June that Herndon, driving a Nissan Armada, totaled a Toyota FJ-40 Land Cruiser. According to witnesses at the scene, he was driving around 100 mph.

TMZ also has video of Herndon failing the field sobriety test, leading to his DWI charge. He told police he had “two cups” of wine.

Police administered a field sobriety test, which he appeared to struggle with. According to the report, he blew a 0.14, nearly twice the legal limit.

Herndon is set to appear in court next month.

Herndon would not say much about the crash last month after Jets practice, only offering, “This is not who I am.”

The 22-year-old was a fourth-round pick this year out of Miami, where he starred for three years.
