The last person in Weatherfield who you’d expect to be arrested on suspicion of robbery is Billy, but the vicar has some serious explaining to do when the police turn up and take him in for questioning over a historic crime.
“Billy is horrified,” reveals Daniel Brocklebank, who plays the man of God.
“He was in the station a few weeks before when he handed himself in over the Peter punch, but what he doesn’t realise is that the fingerprints he gave then have brought up a cold case from 2001.”
The colour drains from Billy’s face as the police quiz him about why his fingerprints were found on a burnt-out car that was used in an armed robbery 16 years ago.
However, he refuses to answer any questions after getting much-needed legal advice from Adam.
“Adam advises him to say nothing,” says Daniel. “So he keeps his mouth shut.”
Later, however, Billy makes a stunning admission to Todd…
“He speaks about something that he’s never spoken about before,” teases Daniel, who admits that Billy’s arrest could have an impact on him adopting Summer.
“When the social services find out, this could damage their future.”
As for what Billy tells Todd about this shocking turn of events, Daniel is bracing himself for viewers to be stunned by his character’s past.
“I’m excited but nervous because it shows a different side to Billy,” he says. “We get more of an idea of who Billy used to be…”
Rana and Zeedan are about to make their marriage official with a civil ceremony, but rather than her head being filled with wedding details, all the bride can think about is Kate.
Things come to a head when Rana arrives home to find Kate helping Zeedan decorate the house for the wedding.
The pair end up getting into an argument and, in the heat of the moment, Kate kisses Rana!
While Kate leaves abruptly after their smooch, Rana is more confused than ever, but later confesses to Kate that she does have feelings for her.
When Rana points out that she loves Zeedan too, Kate tells her to stop toying with her emotions.
As the day of the ceremony dawns, Rana calls at Kate’s flat and tells her that she only needs to give her a sign and she’ll call the nuptials off.
Zeedan is waiting nervously at the register office with his family and friends, but there’s no sign of his bride. Is the wedding off?
