Adam Collard confirms Love Island stars were told about Sophie Gradon's death – but it wasn't shown on TV

Sophie, who appeared on the second series of the reality show back in 2016, was found dead at her parents' home in Newcastle last month.

And tragically, her boyfriend Aaron also passed away yesterday.

Adam tweeted today: "It was tragic to hear about Sophie during my time in the villa and even sadder to now hear about Aaron.

"Thoughts go out to all of the friends, family and loved ones.

"You will be truly missed, rest in peace."

The Sun previously revealed that Sophie's friend Ellie Brown was told about her pal's death off camera in the villa.

Producers made the decision to tell her and the fellow Islanders off camera in scenes that did not air on the show.

Ellie revealed she knew Sophie in an interview before her arrival and Sophie tweeted her excitement at seeing her pal on screen.

Alongside emojis, Sophie captioned Ellie's Love Island press shot: "….. my mate Elle is landing in #loveisland no biggie".

A fan commented on the post and asked if Ellie knew fellow Geordie Adam Collard, who was already in the villa.

When they asked if Ellie was Adam's ex, Sophie replied: "She’s not Adam's ex. But…. it’s a small town."

Last month, the show shared a heartfelt statement on Twitter regarding Sophie's death.

It said: "The whole ITV2 and Love Island team are profoundly saddened to hear the news about Sophie, and our deepest sympathies and thoughts go to her family and friends."
