The second season of American Crime Story has just dropped its first teaser trailer.
Following 2015’s Emmy-winning anthology drama The People vs. OJ Simpson, Ryan Murphy is telling his next American Crime Story with The Assassination of Gianni Versace, and in the series’ first teaser we get the briefest of hints at the murder itself.
And we do mean brief.
Versace will adapt the true crime book Vulgar Favors, which detailed the manhunt for serial killer Andrew Cunanan after he murdered Versace on the steps of the designer’s Miami mansion in 1997.
In the 15-second clip above, we’re treated to a long shot of what is likely to be Versace’s Miami Beach property, only for the birds outside to scatter after two gunshots are heard, and the frame is drenched with an ominous-looking red light as the title and the 2018 air date flashes up on screen.
So definitely a teaser trailer, but a brilliant one nonetheless.
