The American Idol revival could be about to bag a massive star for the judging panel, as Katy Perry is reportedly in talks to sign on.
According to both The Hollywood Reporter and TMZ, the star is in active talks to join the 2018 reboot.
It comes after both Simon Cowell and Kelly Clarkson ruled out appearing on the judging panel for the next season, the latter signing up to do The Voice.
Katy would obviously be a big bag for the ABC show, which will return for the 2017/18 TV season after being off screens since 2015. It also suggests that they’re going all out on the budget.
Digital Spy has reached out to Katy’s representatives for comment.
The singer has some experience of reality TV judging, having previously acted as a guest judge on The X Factor in the UK.
Ryan Seacrest is also reportedly in talks to return to American Idol, though those are apparently still in negotiation as he’s just signed up to become co-host of Live With Kelly and Ryan.
The last season of American Idol on FOX was judged by Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr.
Meanwhile, Katy has just unveiled her anticipated fifth album, which will be called Witness, alongside a massive tour – so it seems she has a pretty busy year ahead.
