Beyoncé is said to be the top choice for Simba’s best pal and love in Disney’s live-action remake of the classic animation.
Variety report that the pregnant singer is director Jon Favreau’s top choice for the role and are doing everything in their power to “accommodate her schedule.”
Beyoncé recently had to drop out of performing at Coachella because of her pregnancy, but the studio are hoping that because Nala is a voice role it will be easier to undertake.

Donald Glover has been cast as Simba in the movie, with James Earl Jones returning as the voice of Simba’s father Mufasa.
Further casting for Nala, Timone, Pumba, Scar and the hyenas have yet to be announced but fingers crossed Whoopi Goldberg will be back as Shenzi.
The Lion King is among a long list of Disney live-action remakes in the works, with Beauty and the Beast the most recent to hit cinemas.

Beyoncé is no stranger to voice acting after playing Queen Tara in the Fox’s 2013 animation Epic.
She recently took daughter Blue Ivy to a screening of Beauty and the Beast so we can imagine that playing Nala would earn her major cool points at home.
Favreau previously directed last year’s The Jungle Book remake and will also be at the helm of the sequel.

The Lion King – originally released in 1994 – is being fast-tracked by Disney despite the fact the direction is in the middle of developing The Jungle Book 2.
The 1994 animated film took $968.5 million worldwide and is one of the highest grossing animated films ever.
Mulan and Dumbo are also getting remake by Disney. You can check the release dates for all Disney’s upcoming movies here.
