The Big Bang Theory to welcome love interest for Raj

If you’re a Big Bang fan and you’re anything like us, chances are that you’ve been waiting (im)patiently for Raj Koothrappali to be lucky in love for quite some time.

Well, we have some good news for you. (And, inevitably, some bad news too.)

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Big Bang Theory is lining up a love interest for Raj in an upcoming episode – and she’ll be played by 2 Broke Girls‘ Beth Behrs.

So far, so amazing.

Unfortunately for Raj, things aren’t exactly plain-sailing, as Beth’s character Nell is trying to shake off an overbearing ex-husband (Walton Goggins).

Beth and Walter will pop up in January 18’s episode over in the US, where fans will get to see Raj and school teacher Nell hit it off.

Don’t worry too much, though, because the long-running sitcom’s new showrunner Steve Holland has promised that we’ll be seeing a lot more confidence from Kunal Nayyar’s character.

Talking to THR about Raj’s decision to give up his family’s money and become his own man, Holland said: “The reason to do a journey like that is to have it affect and change the character a bit, and that change is going to affect his dating life as well.”

Here’s hoping!

The Big Bang Theory airs on CBS in the US, and on E4 in the UK.
